Though I was a surprise, after a few years of having my brother.
No regrets you had. Said it was a privilege to be my mother.
Many challenges we faced throughout my childhood and teenage years.
Yet committed you were to ensure to calm my fears and dry my tears.
A spoiled brat I could often be; discipline at times I did resist.
But eventually became grateful for the lessons learned; I can’t begin to list.
Though thousands of miles apart, and the yearly visits are few.
The consistent phone calls and affirmations prevent me from feeling blue.
I know our roles appear reversed. I tend to act like the mom.
And despite my fiery temperament, you always tend to remain calm.
I thank God for your extended life, and the impact you have on me still.
It's an honor to be your daughter, and I will see you in a few months if it’s God’s will.
